Konstantin Grcic – DIN A ceramic tile collection for Mutina
The tile collection by Konstantin Grcic strikes with ultra-simplicity and rationality. DIN is a German organisation which defines industry norms such as colour or size standards. The DIN A collection by Konstantin Grcic is built using exactly that: a modular system of 4 sizes and 8 colours and 2 finishes that opens a standardised tool box of possibilities. The designer was inspired by the Berlin Hansa-Viertel, a social housing quarter with strictly modernist architecture.
It’s a headstrong design vision that was turned into product, made for individualistic constructivists! And perfect for geometric composition in living and public spaces.
The colour palette is somewhat reminiscent of the Bauhaus era, not afraid of colourfulness but in elegant slightly greyed shades.
