The waiting has an end: only one more day until the 2022 Salone del Mobile opens. I will be reporting on the highlights of the Fuorisalone, the showrooms and events in town tomorrow and Wednesday, then from Eurocucina and the Salone del Mobile Thursday.
Sustainability, so has been the claim for this 60th edition of the world famous fair, is supposed to be the #1 topic. It will be very interesting to see what Milan’s vision for the future is.
Also, what’s the future of such mega events with millions of visitors from around the globe? Will the world keep travelling to Italy to see the latest in design? Is the format of a fair a format for tomorrow? Only time will tell. For now the design community is looking forward to the first full-on Salone since 3 years, to the beautiful palazzi and wonderful aperos, and to the who-is-who in interior and furniture design.
