MATERIAL INSPIRATION – Part of the Plastic exhibition @Vitradesignmuseum (which is absolutely worth attending) this water fountain was installed outside. Apart from that such fountains in public spaces could save us millions of plastic bottles, I was inspired by the material looks and colours. Mirrl, a solid surface material made from layers of tinted resin, highly resilient, long lasting, waterproof, food safe, repairable. The producer is a small company in Glasgow.
The type of granulated look of which Mirrl is an example are more and more common. These speckle designs make wonderful backdrops in interiors and – shhhh – are great to hide dust and dirt 😉
